Garbage cancel tour dates following Shirley Manson injury
August 2, 2024

Following the conclusion of Garbage’s European tour, which included an electrifying show at the Wembley Arena in London, the band took to social media to announce the cancellation of their remaining 2024 tour dates. According to the post, Garbage were forced to cancel the remainder of their tour due to injuries sustained by frontwoman Shirley Manson.

Writing on Instagram, the band shared, “It is with great and sincere regret that we announce the cancellation of all our remaining dates for the rest of the year due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct.” The caption of the post, presumably written by Manson, also stated, “No one is more crushed about this than I am. You know I would push through if I could.”

This announcement means that the scheduled performances in Mexico City, California, and Washington DC are no longer happening. Although there has not yet been any talk of rescheduling these hotly anticipated shows, the band’s statement did say, “We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025.”

Manson is certainly no stranger to on-stage injuries. Back in 2016, during a performance in Los Angeles, the frontwoman fell off stage and later required hip surgery to correct the damage caused. Garbage also cancelled their scheduled Blondie back in 2021, after Debbie Harry’s group had to postpone their planned UK tour.
