Paul McCartney has announced plans for limited screenings of the rare Wings documentary, One Hand Clapping.

The film, directed by David Litchfield, captures the band’s famous recording session at Abbey Road Studios in 1974 when they crafted the famous live album of the same name. One Hand Clapping was filmed on tape but has now been restored to 4k, boasts behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive interviews with the band, and rarely seen footage of a pivotal moment in Wings history.

The first event is set to take place on September 26th, and in addition to the documentary, it will also include the previously unreleased Backyard Sessions, featuring footage of McCartney playing acoustic versions of hits and rarities. These include the unreleased track, ‘Blackpool’, and a cover of ‘Twenty Flight Rock’ by Eddie Cochran, which McCartney played to John Lennon when they first met,

In a statement, McCartney reflected: “It’s so great to look back on that period and see the little live show we did. We made a pretty good noise actually! It was a great time for the band, we started to have success with Wings, which had been a long time coming.”

Although it’s not been confirmed whether McCartney will be in attendance for the screening on September 26th, he has filmed a special introductory message to be played at the occasion. Exclusive never-seen-before Polaroid pictures from the session will also be unveiled, says https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/

McCartney has worked on the re-release of One Hand Clapping alongside Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios.”We are looking forward to bringing the legendary music of Paul McCartney to the big screen and offering fans a front-row seat to his enduring legacy,” said Marc Allenby, CEO, Trafalgar Releasing.

Allenby continued: “This cinematic experience will transport audiences back to a golden era of rock and roll while captivating new fans with the magic of this iconic band. It’s a must-see event for music lovers of all generations.”

Meanwhile, Amy Freshwater, VP of Acquisitions at Mercury Studios, explained: “We are working closely with MPL to release a brand-new project in honour of the 50th anniversary. Mercury Studios are handling all media sales and are delighted to pair with Trafalgar Releasing for the initial theatrical release as we bring this very special treat to audiences worldwide.”

The latest celebratory Wings release arrives after the band reissued earlier this year to celebrate the album’s 50th anniversary. Through these means, McCartney is ensuring their legacy remains in-tact, and offering poignant reminders of the magnificent work they made throughout the 1970s.
