American actor Richard Gere and director Oren Moverman have signed on as executive producers of “The Wisdom of Happiness,” a new documentary about the Dalai Lama. “This is a small film that can have a big impact on the future,” said Geer, who is a student and friend of the current Dalai Lama, reports Variety. In addition to interviews with the Dalai Lama, “The Wisdom of Happiness” features unreleased and recently restored Tibetan government archive footage of the 14th Dalai Lama, who was born Tenzin Gyatso and officially became Tibet’s spiritual leader at the age of four in 1940.
The film, directed by Barbara Miller and Philippe Delakis, features the 89-year-old Dalai Lama speaking about the universal search for inner peace and happiness and the potential for a peaceful and happy 21st century.
