Taylor Swift has been called to court in the case between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Swift – a longtime friend of Lively – was first mentioned in connection with the ongoing legal dispute between Lively and her “It Ends with Us” director and co-star when her name was revealed in messages released by Baldoni’s team in their defamation countersuit, according to CNN .
Justin Baldoni is suing Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for $400 million.
A spokesperson for Swift told CNN on Friday:
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this film, was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, did not compose the film’s score, never saw the editing or took any notes on the film, did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until a few weeks after its public release, and traveled the world during 2023 and 2024.”
“Taylor’s connection to this film was the license to use one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was in licensing the song for the film, as did 19 other artists, this subpoena was designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to garner public attention by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case,” the spokesperson added.
CNN has reached out to Baldoni’s representatives for comment.
A spokesman for Lively said Baldoni and his legal team “continue to turn this sexual harassment and retaliation case into entertainment for the tabloids.”
“This is a very serious legal issue, not a Barnum and Bailey circus. The defendants continue to publicly intimidate, harass, embarrass and attack the rights and reputation of women,” said her spokeswoman.
To recall, Blake Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation in a lawsuit she initially filed with the California Department of Civil Rights in December, before the lawsuit that followed about a week later.
She also claimed that Baldoni, along with his public relations representatives, orchestrated a “campaign of social manipulation” to damage her reputation in the media while promoting “It Ends With Us,” their 2024 film at the center of the dispute.
Baldoni has denied the allegations, and his legal team has created a separate website in which it has presented evidence refuting Blake Lively’s claims, as well as all the messages they exchanged.
He accused Reynolds and Lively of trying to “hijack” his film (one of the messages shows that even though he was the director, he was not allowed to see the final cut of the film).
He claimed that Reynolds, who had no formal role in “It Ends With Us,” wrote one scene and made “unauthorized changes to the script in secret.”
Baldoni also accused Reynolds of pressuring him at their New York home and alleged that Reynolds mocked him in the movie “Deadpool and Wolverine”, modeling the character of Nicepool after Baldoni in an attempt to mock him.
Reynolds’ attorney filed a motion to remove him as a defendant from Baldoni’s lawsuit, arguing that his argument against Reynolds has no legal boundaries and amounts to “hurt feelings.”
The trial in this case is scheduled for March 2026.
